Woodlawn Road sits in the heart of the Crabtree Conservation Area in SW6 — one of Fulham's most protected and characterful streets. The property had real potential, but it was being wasted. A first-floor flat that needed to work harder, look better, and feel entirely different. The owners came to us with a clear brief: a rear and side outrigger roof extension, a full internal reconfiguration, and a fit-out built to a standard the building deserved. Conservation area work demands a different level of precision — every detail is scrutinised, every material has to be right, and there's no room for shortcuts. This is exactly the kind of project Dominant Construction was built for. Done properly, a transformation like this doesn't just change how you live in a space. It fundamentally changes what the property is worth. We started at the top — constructing the rear and side outrigger roof extension with modern slate tiling, lead-flashed dormer windows, and a GRP flat roof to the rear.
New rooflights were cut in to pull natural light deep into the plan, and a vaulted ceiling was formed to give the living space a scale it never had before. Structurally, steels went in throughout — supporting beams, lintels, party wall works — all carefully sequenced to keep the build moving. Inside, the flat was stripped back and rebuilt properly: a professional-grade kitchen and dining area, a master bedroom with a full en-suite, acoustic and thermal insulation throughout, and a completely new electrical layout across every room. Bespoke media and bookcase units were built in, new sash windows installed to match the conservation area requirements, and timber flooring laid from end to end. A complex roof extension and full renovation in Fulham SW6 — delivered in-house, from structure to finish, by our own team.
